The Reverend Stephen Sutcliffe

Chaplain

Revd Stephen Sutcliffe is a Team Vicar serving in the Benefice of Newport and Carisbrooke with Gatcombe.

Born in 1971, Stephen moved down initially to Carisbrooke, from Manchester in 1984 along with his parents and sister and has lived here very happily ever since – only leaving the Island for a couple of years whilst he trained for ministry.

Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, including two grown up children and two grandchildren who, along with his wider family, live on the Island and up in Manchester. He can often be seen walking around and about the benefice, burning off biscuits and cake as he puts it! He also enjoys gardening and cycling in his leisure time.

Serving in the new benefice, Stephen was licensed at an exciting time for the Church. He reports that the final phase of the Newport Minster Renewal and Restoration Project is now well underway. And with it comes a church that is much better placed to serve the local community and its needs with the new upgraded facilities.
